Black Tie and Boots

The University of Wyoming’s cookbook, “Black Tie and Boots: Timeless Traditions from the New West,” is in stock and available for purchase at the clearance price of $10 per book plus shipping and tax (if applicable).

Nearly 100 full-color photographs by award-winning UWyo magazine photographer Ted Brummond illustrate some 300 recipes for appetizers and beverages; breads and brunches; salads and dressings; soups and stews; meats; poultry; fish and seafood; pasta and rice; vegetables and side dishes; and desserts.

All of the recipes were submitted by Wyoming residents and by University of Wyoming alumni living throughout the nation and the world.

Featured recipes have been organized into menus for a variety of special occasions, such as a commencement dinner, picnic at Vedauwoo, Fourth of July barbecue, Halloween luncheon, elegant dinner, winter Mexican supper, pre-theatre hors d'oeuvres, and Cowboy Joe tailgate party.

Entertaining suggestions, holiday traditions, historical and cultural anecdotes, cooking tips, information on some recipes' countries of origin, high-altitude baking hints, and information on unusual ingredients will enhance a number of recipes.

Recipes selected for the book were tested and professionally edited for cooking ease, beautifully illustrated, and reproduced to reflect the history and culture of UW and the state of Wyoming.
