Wyoming Magazine Prospector Record
| Title: |
Teepee Book
|
| Summary: |
This small monthly began as a series of free pamphlets from Herbert Coffeen, the owner of "At the Sign of the Teepee", a gift shop in Sheridan, WY. The magazine combined western history, Indian lore, fiction, and poetry with reproductions of artwork and photographs, and considerable advertising. Special issues included: Ranch resorts (March-May 1915); Throssel art (March 1916); Forestry (April 1916); Sportsman (May 1916); Custer battle (June 1916); and Poetic (August 1916). Early issues had no page numbers; there was frequent confusion about volume numbering and dates; and later issues diminished in size and had fewer illustrations. When Mr. Coffeen left Sheridan for health reasons, Leon J. B. Dusseau filled in as editor and continued after Coffeen's death in 1916. The magazine ceased after publishing 15 issues.
