Wyoming Magazine Prospector Record

Title: Wyoming Archaeologist
Summary: This periodical from the Wyoming Archaeological Society (published in multiple Wyoming cities as the editor changed), continues the monthly newsletter, Smoke Signal (see separately), retaining its volume numbering) and regular columns/articles in Annals of Wyoming (see separately). It began publication as a monthly in mimeograph (vol. 2 (12) not published to allow 3 (1) to begin in January). In 1959 it was produced on two-sided ditto, then returned to mimeograph reproduction after six issues. In 1961 it changed frequency to a quarterly; in 1982 it began publishing as semiannual, though maintaining the fiction it was a quarterly--each issue was combined; and in 1992 it admitted to the obvious. In xxxx it converted to offset printing, in part to allow black and white photography. News items and society minutes, often published as introductory material and paginated in Roman numerals (later included in normal pagination), are seldom indexed. The magazine has occasionally had retrospective indexes published in the magazine and is about a year behind in publication.
