Electronic Reserves

How to access Electronic Reserves

  1. Go to the Reserves link on the UW Libraries homepage (under Find information).
  2. Search for your class by Instructor, Department or Course. Instructor is usually the easiet way to locate an e-reserve.
  3. If the search results in a list of items, choose the item titled "Electronic Readings" that corresponds to your course.
  4. The next page will display all the electronic readings for the course. Click the title of the desired article.
  5. On the "E-Reserves Log-On" screen:
    • Enter the required information in the 'username' and 'password' fields. This is your UW network username and password, it is case sensitive.
    • Check the copyright box and click the "logon" button.
  6. The article should automatically download and open in a PDF reading application like Adobe Acrobat.
    • A security stop may appear as a white bar at the top of the screen when accessing reserves with Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser. The message on the bar reads, "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files onto your computer. Click here for options." Click on the bar and select "download file" and choose to either open or save the file.
    • If the article does not open and the security bar does not appear, right-click the link at the bottom of the page and follow the "Save Target As" instructions.
  7. When finished with an electronic document, logging completely out of the Library Catalog will increase network efficiency.
