Borrowing
Do I need a library card?
- Yes. Your WyoOne Card is your library card. Bring it with you to check out materials.
- The first time you borrow library materials, your card will be activated at any UW Libraries Circulation Desk.
What can I borrow?
- All library materials except current periodicals, reference books, and microforms
How long are loans?
Can I have items held or request library materials that are already checked out?
- Holds may be placed on any material that is currently checked out, except for reserves and videos. When the item is returned, the library will notify you that the item is available at the Circulation Desk for 7 days.
- Place holds at the Circulation Desk; request items via My Library Accounts
How can I renew items?
- Renewals may be made in person, by the Online Renewal Form (best if you know you have a hold on your account), by phone: 307-766-3190 and by My Library Accounts. Materials requested by another patron cannot be renewed.
What if it’s overdue or lost?
- borrowing privileges are temporarily blocked until overdue materials are returned or renewed
- Items with a 28 day or longer checkout will be billed 28 days from the due date; and items with a less than 28 day checkout will be billed 14 days from the due date. You will be billed for the replacement cost, a $20.00 processing fee, and a non refundable billing fee of $5 per item.
- For more information, see Selection From Fee Book or Complete Fee Book
Can I send a student assistant to check out books?
- You may authorize a representative to check out materials on your account with a completed and signed proxy permission form. You assume responsibility for any library transaction made by the proxy.
- Information regarding your account will not be shared with the proxy. The proxy is limited to charging out materials and must present his or her library card.
- Both your and the proxy patron's account must be in good standing to make a proxy charge. Library staff may not serve as proxy patrons.
Can I borrow from near-by libraries?
- UW Libraries is a member of Prospector; you have access to over 20 million books and other materials from 23 libraries in Colorado.
- Prospector does not include articles; the link to articles on Prospector’s home page does not work.
- Prospector
If Prospector doesn’t have the book that I need or I need an article, where can I get it?
- Request It service from the Interlibrary Loan department
Classroom/Consultation use policies
All reservations must conform to the General Policies for Coe Library Space. The classrooms and consultation rooms will be scheduled for use during regular reference desk hours.
