Can I get a library card?
- Borrowing privileges are available at no charge to Wyoming residents, Wyoming corporations, spouses/dependents of UW patrons, on-campus workshops, members of the UW Alumni Association, and patrons of libraries with which UW has established borrowing agreements.
- Wyoming residents must present a picture ID showing proof of residency. Wyoming residents under 18 years of age must have a signed parental permission form on file to obtain a library card.
- Residents and corporations of states other than Wyoming must pay a $10 annual fee to obtain a library card.
- Registration may be completed at any circulation desk of the UW Libraries and all cards must be updated annually. Library patrons are responsible for notifying the library of any change of address.
What can I borrow?
- All library materials except current periodicals, reference books, and microforms
How long are loans?
Can I have items held or request library materials that are already checked out?
- Holds may be placed on any material that is currently checked out, except for reserves and videos. When the item is returned, the library will notify you that the item is available at the Circulation Desk for 10 days.
- All library material that circulates for 28-days or more is subject to recall. Patrons are guaranteed at least a 14-day loan period. Material needed for reserve may be recalled immediately. When an item is recalled, the current borrower has one week to return the material.
- Place holds at the Circulation Desk; request items via My Account
How can I renew items?
- Renewals may be made in person, by the Online Renewal Form (best if you know you have a hold on your account), by phone: 307-766-3190 and by My Account. Materials requested by another patron cannot be renewed.
What if it’s overdue or lost?
- borrowing privileges are temporarily blocked until overdue materials are returned or renewed
- Items with a 28 day or longer checkout will be billed 28 days
from the due date; and items with a less than 28 day checkout will be
billed 14 days from the due date. You will be billed for the
replacement cost, a $20.00 processing fee, and a non refundable billing
fee of $5 per item.
