JASNA Essay Contest Entry Form

Entry Form Instructions:


Before you submit an essay, please review the contest rules and essay format guidelines on the Essay Submissions Page.
We also recommend that you review the Frequently-Asked Questions (FAQs) and read the previous winning essays to get an idea of the sort of essay JASNA is seeking.


Please fill out the entry form as completely as possible.
Use double quotation marks instead of italics to indicate titles. (Please limit your title to 220 characters.)
Include your email address.
After you have successfully submitted the form, you will see a Thank-you screen, and you will receive a confirmation email showing the information you entered.



In order to participate in the Essay Contest, you must be a full- or part-time student during the academic year in which it is held.
The requirement for each division is as follows:


  • High School: full-time or part-time student or home-schooled at the high school level.
  • College/University: enrolled in at least six credit hours of course work at a junior college, college, or university.
  • Graduate School: enrolled in at least three credit hours of graduate course work at a college or university leading to an advanced degree.
